Myma Belo-Osagie
Dr. Myma A. Belo‑Osagie (b. February 22, 1954, Accra, Ghana) is a renowned legal pioneer and one of Africa’s largest and most thoughtful collectors of African art.
As co‑founder and Partner Emerita of Udo Udoma & Belo‑Osagie, she played a central role in high-profile deals in energy, telecommunications, infrastructure, and corporate finance, earning global recognition from Chambers Global and IFLR1000 Women Leaders
Beyond law, Dr. Belo‑Osagie is deeply embedded in the art world. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art (the Smithsonian’s principal institution for African art in the U.S.) and on the Board of MOWAA (Museum of West African Art in Benin, Nigeria). She has for many years supported Nigeria’s Arts and Business Foundation as well as several gallerists and curators in Africa.
Her governance roles span leading cultural and educational bodies: trustee or advisor for the African Leadership Academy, Ashesi University, and Harvard University’s Center for African Studies, where she chairs the advisory board. In 2018, she was elected an International Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Her personal art collection is carefully built across Nigeria, Ghana, the U.K., and the U.S.. It reflects her deep engagement with African identity in a global context.
Through strategic curation, institutional support, and advisory leadership, Dr. Belo‑Osagie’s influence bridges the legal, academic, philanthropic, and cultural worlds—making her both a guardian and champion of African visual heritage.
